Founded by Christian Barrier, the original KMC Krav Maga Calgary owner and instructor, SKM continues the same no-ego and backed by real street experience approach trusted by Alberta and British-Colombia students since 2015.

About KMC - Krav Maga Calgary 2015-2021
Originally founded in 2015 by head instructor and owner Christian Barrier, KMC Krav Maga Calgary had approximately 200 students when the school had to close its doors in 2021. Like many small businesses, KMC suffered the consequences of the “COVID-19“ “pandemic“…
In 2021, KMC’s classes had three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. KMC also offered First Aid and CPR classes with Marina and boxing classes with Deyra Correa.
After closing his gym in 2021, Christian continued to offer private Krav Maga, situational awareness, and emergency preparedness group classes in various cities in Alberta and British Columbia.
About SKM - Street Krav Maga 2025 -
We’re back and reborn as SKM Street Krav Maga. After years of building Calgary’s Krav Maga community under the name KMC Krav Maga Calgary Inc, we’re evolving into a new chapter: SKM Street Krav Maga.
In 2025, SKM brings the same proven, reality-based trainings with a sharper focus on street self-defence, based on real-life experience.
With the same no-ego, we continue the mission by reopening regular classes for Calgary students under the Street Krav Maga brand. Our courses are currently being held in various locations in Calgary for people who wish to work in private groups, and then at a later stage a space will be reopened.

What they say:
Christian was born in France and grew up in the city of Venissieux (a communist city at this time) in the suburbs of Lyon. It was the kind of town we nicely call in Canada a “shithole”.
He spent the major part of his teenage years playing in streets before joining the army at 18.
French Veteran: served as a paratrooper in 9e RCP – Airborne Units of the French Armed Forces, with two foreign missions under his belt.
In France, he practiced full contact boxing, Shotokan Karate, and Krav Maga and has real life experience from street fights and as a bouncer.
In his civil life he also have been working in Italy and North Africa, especially in Algeria and Morocco.
Certified Krav Maga Instructor.
2017 & 2018: Trained bouncers at Drake’s Pub in Canmore AB and worked with them on Friday nights.
2016 & 2017: Two VIP protection missions in Calgary & Vancouver
A passionate traveler, he also enjoys taking on challenges, such as cycling across Senegal and Mauritania to reach France. The journey lasted three months and covered 7,500 km, entirely self-sufficient.
Others self-sufficient backcountry trips in Canada included: Donjek Glacier Yukon 7 days, 12 days dog sledding and camping in North Bay James, Quebec and dozens of backcountry hiking trips in YT, BC and AB.
